New Delhi, August 11: Delegation from the Central Committee of the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), led by President Sunil Kumar Chhetri, Vice President Sanjib Chouhan, and General Secretary Numal Chetri, recently met with the Honorable Member of Parliament for Darjeeling, Raju Bista, at his office in New Delhi. MP Raju Bista is notably the only Gorkha representative in the Lok Sabha and has been a committed advocate for the rights and welfare of the Gorkha community across India.

During the meeting, the AAGSU delegation discussed key issues affecting the Gorkha community, focusing on cultural preservation, political representation, educational advancement, and safeguards for the protection of community rights. Other topics included economic development opportunities, youth empowerment initiatives, and strategies to address employment challenges faced by the Gorkhas in Assam and beyond.

In recognition of his dedication and contributions to the Gorkha community, the AAGSU team felicitated MP Raju Bista. They expressed their gratitude for his ongoing efforts in championing the community’s issues on a national platform and his commitment to fostering a strong and united Gorkha identity in India.

The meeting concluded with an assurance from MP Raju Bista that he will continue working closely with community representatives to address their concerns and to uphold the rights and aspirations of the Gorkha people.
