Haflong, 26 January 2026: The All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Dima Hasao District Committee, successfully organised a New Year Greetings-cum-Get Together programme on Monday at Hojai Farmhouse, Haflong, in a cordial and enthusiastic atmosphere.
The programme was held in the presence of several distinguished guests and community leaders, including Uttam Gharti, President, AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee; Bevakananda Joishi, General Secretary, AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee; MAC Krishna Joishi, Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Bhim Bahadur Chetri, President, AGS, Hrishikesh Upadhyaya, Joint Secretary, N.C. Hills Autonomous Council and Giri Raj Joishi, Gorkha Mauzadar, N.C. Hills Autonomous Council.
Other prominent attendees included Krishna Chetri, Central Secretary AGS, Jeevan Sharma, Advisor AAGSU , District Committee; Kesav Sharma, Vice Chairman, Haflong Municipal Board, Mon Bh. Tamang Vice Chairman, Mahur Municipal Board; Chabilal Pandey, President, Nepali Sahitya Sabha; Nita Shai, Secretary, Gorkha Nari Sangharsh; and Gopinath Pandey, President, Nepali Sanskrit Suraksha Parishad.
The programme was also attended by the President and Secretary of Haflong Regional Committee, Mahur Regional Committee, Haflong College Unit, along with several Gorkha social workers from different parts of Dima Hasao district.
During the meeting, an important discussion was held regarding the promotion and organisation of Gorkha sports activities in Dima Hasao during the current year. The speakers emphasised unity, youth participation, and cultural development through sports and community programmes.
