26 Assam Rifles Organises Patriotic Band Display Programme at Haflong

Haflong, Jan 22: A grand Band Display Programme was organised by the 26 Assam Rifles on Thursday at the popular “I Love Dima Hasao” point in Haflong from 3 pm onwards, drawing a large gathering of local residents and dignitaries. The programme was held in the esteemed presence of the Commanding Officer of 26 Assam Rifles, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), and several other distinguished guests, lending the event both significance and solemnity.
The programme was organised as part of the nationwide observance to commemorate 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, with the aim of paying tribute to India’s rich national heritage and igniting a deep sense of patriotism among the people. Through disciplined musical excellence and coordinated performance, the band of the 26 Assam Rifles conveyed powerful messages of unity, sacrifice, and national pride.
As the band rendered soulful and patriotic compositions, the atmosphere at the venue was filled with enthusiasm and reverence. The performance captivated the audience and created a strong emotional connect, with people from different sections of society joining in to witness the occasion. The rhythmic tunes and stirring melodies echoed the spirit of nationalism, evoking pride and respect for the nation and its armed forces. Members of the local public were seen applauding enthusiastically, reflecting their appreciation and wholehearted participation in the programme.
The event stood as a shining example of the efforts undertaken by the 26 Assam Rifles to strengthen the bond between the armed forces and civilians. Such initiatives not only promote cultural and patriotic awareness but also help build trust, harmony, and mutual understanding between the security forces and the local population. By organising public-oriented programmes, the Assam Rifles continue to play an important role in fostering social cohesion alongside their primary responsibility of safeguarding the nation.
The programme also witnessed notable participation from the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU) district committee. President Shri Uttam Gharti attended the event along with Education Secretary Bishal Joishi, marking the organisation’s active involvement in patriotic and nation-building activities. Their presence highlighted the commitment of the student community towards upholding national values and supporting initiatives that promote unity and harmony.
In addition, the President of Haflong Government College, Mumta Joishi, and the Assistant General Secretary of AAGSU, Sagun Chetri, were also present at the programme. Their participation further underlined the importance of educational institutions and student organisations in encouraging civic responsibility and patriotic consciousness among the youth.
Overall, the Band Display Programme organised by the 26 Assam Rifles proved to be a meaningful and inspiring event for the people of Haflong.
