
Guwahati, January 25: The All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU) Kamrup District Committee was invited to attend the prestigious Achievers Awards Ceremony organised by Pratidin Time in association with Everyday Masala and Star Cement. The programme was held on Saturday evening at 5:00 PM at the BKB Auditorium, Gauhati University (GU) Campus, Guwahati, and was attended by eminent personalities from diverse fields, making the event a significant social and cultural gathering.
The ceremony was graced by Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Hon’ble Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Communications, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest. His presence added stature and importance to the event, underlining the role of recognition and encouragement in fostering excellence and commitment towards social, professional, and regional development, particularly in the North Eastern region.
Representing the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union at the event were Gobinda Sarma-President of Kamrup District Committee AAGSU; Amar Sunar-General Secretary, Kamrup District Committee; Biju Chetry- Central Executive Member; Pankaj Nirola-Secretary, Kamrup DistrictCommittee; and Subhash Lama-President, Lampi Anchalik Committee. Their participation reflected the organisation’s continued engagement with social platforms and its active role in educational, youth-oriented, and community-based initiatives across the state of Assam.
The Achievers Awards Ceremony honoured several distinguished individuals for their outstanding contributions in various fields. From the Gorkha community, renowned cricketer Uma Chetry was felicitated for her remarkable achievements in the field of sports, bringing pride and recognition not only to the community but also to the state. Dr. Surajit Giri was also honoured for his notable professional service and dedication, which has made a meaningful impact in his respective field. Along with them, Jhanu Baruah and several other achievers from different backgrounds were recognised for their excellence, perseverance, and service to society.
The event aimed to celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions through hard work, dedication, and commitment, while also serving as a source of inspiration for the younger generation. By showcasing real-life stories of achievement, the programme sought to motivate youths to pursue excellence in their chosen paths and to contribute positively to society.
