Jangli Bosti, 15 August 2026: The All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Mahur Regional Committee, observed the 112th Birth Anniversary of Captain Ram Singh Thakuri at Jangli Bosti on 15 August 2026, paying tribute to the distinguished Gorkha freedom fighter, soldier, musician and composer for his valuable contribution to India’s freedom movement.

The programme was attended by Shri Rajen Chetri, President, AAGSU Mahur Regional Committee; Shri Binod Chetri, General Secretary; Shri Ram Bahadur Tamang, Former Vice President; Shri Dilip Thapa, Vice President; and Shri Krishna Bahadur Chetri, G.B., Jangli Bosti, along with members of the AAGSU Mahur Regional Committee.

The dignitaries and members paid their respects to Captain Ram Singh Thakuri and remembered his remarkable contribution and enduring legacy. His role as a soldier, musician and composer, together with his contribution to the Indian freedom movement, continues to remain a source of inspiration for the Gorkha community and younger generations.

The programme highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the legacy of Captain Ram Singh Thakuri and passing his contributions on to future generations. The organisers emphasised the need to inspire young people by remembering the lives, sacrifices and achievements of distinguished personalities who contributed to the nation.

The programme concluded with a message of remembrance, respect and commitment to preserving the historical contributions of Captain Ram Singh Thakuri and inspiring the younger generation through his legacy.
