
Boko, 30 January 2026: The All Assam Gorkha StudentsтАЩ Union (AAGSU), Kamrup District Committee, formally offered a condolence message expressing deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Lt. Dr. Ganeswar Saharia, HonтАЩble President of Assam Sahitya Sabha, Kamrup District Committee, Founder Principal of Boko B.Ed. College, and Retired Principal of Hekra HS School. Dr. Saharia, who was born on 1 November 1960, passed away on 17 January 2026, leaving behind a profound void in the literary and educational spheres of Assam.
In its condolence message, AAGSU Kamrup District Committee described Dr. Saharia as an eminent literary figure, distinguished scholar, and visionary leader whose immense contributions significantly enriched Assamese language, literature, and culture. His dedication to the promotion of literary values and cultural harmony earned him widespread respect and admiration across the state. The Union stated that his lifelong service in the fields of education and literature would continue to inspire generations to come.
The condolence message was formally presented in the presence of AAGSU Central Committee Office Secretary Bikash Sharma, who attended the programme to pay tribute to the departed soul. Also present on the occasion were Kamrup District Committee President Gobinda Sarma, General Secretary Amar Sunar, along with several other district-level leaders of the Union. The leaders paid floral tributes and observed a minute of silence in memory of the late Dr. Saharia.
Speaking on the occasion, President Gobinda Sarma highlighted Dr. SahariaтАЩs invaluable contributions to both the literary and academic communities, stating that his demise is an irreparable loss to society.
