Dibrugarh District Executive Meeting Held at Namrup

Namrup, May 12: The executive meeting of the All Assam Gorkha StudentsтАЩ Union (AAGSU) Dibrugarh District Committee was successfully convened on 12th May 2026 at the Fertilizers WorkersтАЩ Union Office, Namrup, in the presence of district office bearers, executive members, advisors, and representatives from the central committee. The meeting was presided over by AAGSU Dibrugarh District President Ratna Thapa.

The main objectives and agenda of the executive meeting were elaborately placed before the members by District General Secretary Dipu Ghising. The meeting focused on strengthening the organizational structure, reviewing ongoing activities, and adopting important resolutions for the smooth functioning and expansion of the union.

Representatives from the AAGSU Central Committee including Ajay Kumar Aley, Assistant General Secretary, and Deepak Newar, Organizing Secretary, were present at the meeting. Advisors of the Dibrugarh District Committee, Pradip Bhujel and Ganesh Lama, also attended the programme and shared valuable suggestions during the discussions.

The meeting witnessed detailed and constructive discussions on several significant organizational matters related to future planning, coordination among regional committees, and the effective implementation of various student and social initiatives under the banner of AAGSU. Members present at the meeting expressed their commitment towards further strengthening the organization at the grassroots level and ensuring active participation of youths in social and educational activities.

During the course of the meeting, the executive body also came to a unanimous conclusion to continue the initiative of organizing a Special Felicitation Programme for meritorious students of the HSLC and HSSLC examinations. Apart from the felicitation programme, the committee also resolved to organize a separate Organizational Workshop aimed at strengthening leadership, coordination, and organizational awareness among members and youths. Both programmes will be conducted in continuation as part of a two-day schedule to be held on 13th and 14th June 2026.

One of the major decisions adopted during the meeting was regarding the temporary assignment of responsibilities within the district committee. Due to personal constraints, District General Secretary Dipu Ghising formally entrusted Mr. Suraj Chetry with the responsibility of Acting General Secretary for the next one and a half months with effect from 12th May 2026. The decision was unanimously welcomed by the members present, who expressed confidence in his ability to discharge the responsibilities efficiently during the interim period.

The executive meeting also approved important appointments and promotions within the district organizational structure. Ayush Sharma was promoted to the post of District Information Technology (IT) Secretary in recognition of his active involvement and contribution towards the organizationтАЩs digital and communication-related activities. The committee expressed hope that his appointment would further strengthen the technological and media outreach of the district unit.

In another significant development, Aditya Lama from the Tingkhong Regional Committee and Rukmo Newar from the Khowang Regional Committee were nominated as Executive Members of the district committee. Their inclusion was viewed as an important step towards ensuring broader regional representation and strengthening coordination among different committees under the district unit.

The meeting concluded with members extending heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all newly appointed and promoted office bearers. Senior members of the organization emphasized the need for unity, dedication, and collective effort in carrying forward the ideals and objectives of the union. The gathering ended on a positive note with renewed commitment towards organizational growth and service to the student community and society at large.
