Rangia, Assam – In a remarkable turn of events that has brought renewed hope to the Gorkha student community, Parash Barman, representing the All Assam Gorkha Student Union (AAGSU) unit, has been elected as the Vice President of the Rangia College Students’ Union in the recently concluded General Election.

Barman, a diligent B.Com 5th Semester student at Rangia College, secured a strong mandate, polling a total of 1040 votes. The win is widely celebrated as a triumphant comeback for AAGSU-backed candidates. Students and community members alike have expressed optimism about Barman’s leadership, noting that his dedication, vision, and active engagement in student affairs are likely to bring positive change to the college union’s functioning.

“The last two years had been a challenging period for Gorkha students in Rangia College, but this year marks a well-deserved and inspiring comeback,” a student representative shared.

Originally from Nagrijuli Guabari, Barman is recognized not only for his academic commitment but also for his proactive approach to representing student interests. His election is celebrated not only by the Gorkha community but also by a broader student base that values inclusive, representative, and participatory student politics.

This victory stands as a symbol of perseverance and community pride, and it is expected to energize Gorkha students and encourage greater engagement in college affairs in the coming years.
