The All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), comprising the Dima Hasao District Committee, Haflong Regional Committee, Jatinga Regional Committee, and AAGSU Haflong College Unit, had the privilege of felicitating Shri Ramu Upadhaya on the occasion of his retirement from the Soil Conservation Department, Government of Assam.
The felicitation programme was organized to honour Shri Upadhaya’s distinguished career in public service and to recognize his immense contributions to society.
Throughout his service, he remained committed to the welfare of the people and extended unwavering support to the student community. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Shri Upadhaya has earned immense respect as an author, historian, journalist, and social thinker.
He has authored several notable books, including The Quest of Baojender, A Landless Alien: Where Heart Lay, Trial & Errors, Sight of Vision, Parody, Revelation, Endearing Species, Penalty & Pardon, Assam’s Dima Hasao: Pearls of Big River, and Odyssey Dima Hasao & Autonomous Council.
Through these literary works, he has made remarkable contributions to documenting the history, culture, heritage, and identity of Dima Hasao and its people.

During the programme, AAGSU leaders expressed their heartfelt appreciation for his lifelong dedication, selfless service, and valuable guidance. They acknowledged that his contributions have inspired generations to uphold knowledge, truth, and cultural heritage. As a token of respect and gratitude, the organization felicitated Shri Upadhaya and conveyed its best wishes for a healthy, peaceful, and fulfilling retired life.
