Karbi Anglong, 01 August : Demonstrating its commitment towards humanitarian service and social responsibility, the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Karbi Anglong District Committee, carried out a flood relief initiative in Sivasagar district to support families severely affected by the recent devastating floods that have disrupted normal life across several parts of Assam.
The relief initiative was conducted under the leadership of Mr. Sanju Gorkha Chhetry, who led a team of dedicated AAGSU volunteers in reaching out to flood-affected families. The team visited the affected areas and extended assistance to people who have been struggling with the loss of homes, essential belongings, and livelihoods due to the unprecedented flooding.
Recognising the hardships faced by the affected families, the District Committee stood in solidarity with them by providing relief support and offering words of encouragement during this difficult period. The initiative was undertaken with the objective of ensuring that the affected people feel supported and are not left alone in the face of adversity. Beyond material assistance, the visit also conveyed a message of compassion, unity, and hope to those enduring the aftermath of the natural calamity.
Speaking on the occasion, the leadership of the District Committee reiterated that AAGSU has always believed in serving society beyond organisational activities. The Committee emphasised that extending a helping hand during times of crisis is a collective responsibility and an integral part of the organisation’s commitment to humanity. Such initiatives, it noted, reflect the spirit of volunteerism and reinforce the values upon which AAGSU has been working for decades.
The Karbi Anglong District Committee expressed its heartfelt sympathy to every family affected by the floods in Sivasagar and prayed for their safety, strength, and speedy recovery. The Committee also expressed hope that the affected families would soon be able to rebuild their homes, restore their livelihoods, and return to normal life with renewed courage and dignity.
Through this relief initiative, the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Karbi Anglong District Committee once again reaffirmed its dedication to humanitarian service and appealed to individuals, organisations, and the wider community to come forward in supporting flood victims. The Committee stressed that collective compassion and timely assistance can play a significant role in helping disaster-affected communities recover and rebuild their lives.
