
Mahur, 12 September 2026: The All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Mahur Regional Committee, successfully organised the Central Haritalika Teej Celebration 2026 on 12 September 2026 at Mahur Auditorium Hall, Mahur, with the objective of preserving, promoting and celebrating the rich cultural traditions and heritage of the Gorkha community.
The programme was graced by several distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Mrs. Probita Johari, Executive Member (EM), Shri Babul Kemprai, Chairman, MMB, Shri Mon Bahadur Tamang, Vice-Chairman, MMB, Shri Arjun Thapa, General Secretary, Mahur Mandal, Shri Ram Bahadur Tamang, Former Vice President, AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee, Gaon Burhas from six Gorkha villages and Shri Dhan Bahadur Chetri, President, Mahur Mouja.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by the Regional President, followed by an address highlighting the cultural, traditional and religious significance of Haritalika Teej. The celebration featured vibrant cultural performances, traditional Teej songs and group dances presented by women participants from different Gorkha villages of the Mahur region.
An interactive session with the Chief Guest was also conducted, providing participants with an opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences. The enthusiastic participation of Gorkha women from across the region added colour and significance to the celebration.
The programme provided a common platform for Gorkha women to come together, celebrate their traditions and strengthen the spirit of unity and sisterhood. It also created an opportunity for the younger generation to learn about and appreciate the cultural heritage associated with Haritalika Teej.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Regional General Secretary. The AAGSU Mahur Regional Committee expressed its sincere gratitude to all distinguished guests, Gaon Burhas, members, participants, volunteers, supporters and well-wishers whose valuable presence and cooperation contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
