Haflong, 23 August 2026: The All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Dima Hasao District Committee, in collaboration with the AAGSU Haflong Regional Committee, AAGSU Jatinga Regional Committee and volunteers from Haflong College Unit, jointly organised a cleanliness drive and plantation programme at the premises of Haflong Kalibari on Sunday, 23 August 2026.
The programme was organised with the objective of promoting cleanliness, environmental awareness and community participation. AAGSU members and young volunteers actively participated in the cleanliness activities and plantation drive, contributing towards maintaining a clean environment and promoting the importance of greenery and environmental protection.
The programme witnessed the active participation of office-bearers from the respective AAGSU committees. From the AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee, President Uttam Gharti, Vice President Bishal Sharma, Medical Secretary Hemu Joishi and Sports Secretary Rohit Joishi participated in the programme.
The AAGSU Haflong Regional Committee was represented by President Bishal Joishi, Vice President Surjoy Bahadur Thapa, Secretary Rupak Sharma and Magazine Secretary Lachuman Bhandari. From the AAGSU Jatinga Regional Committee, President Pritom Bh. Thapa and Secretary Varsha Rai took part in the initiative.
The active involvement of the committees and young volunteers reflected their commitment to community service and environmental conservation. The initiative also encouraged collective responsibility, particularly among the younger generation, to maintain cleanliness in public spaces and contribute towards creating a greener and healthier environment.
The programme concluded with a strong message of environmental awareness, social responsibility and community participation. The initiative reflected the collective commitment of AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee and its affiliated regional committees towards serving the community and contributing to the cleanliness and environmental well-being of Haflong.
