
One of the most active and strongest regional committees of the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), the Namrup Regional Gorkha Students’ Union, with the support and cooperation of the people of Namrup, organized a special felicitation programme on 28 June 2026 at the BVFCL Fertilizer Club, Namrup to honor nearly fifty students who successfully passed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary (HS) Final Examinations with distinction. On the same occasion, the Sixth Biennial Representative Meeting of the Namrup Regional Gorkha Students’ Union was also held.
The programme was conducted by Chandan Pradhan, General Secretary of the Namrup Regional Gorkha Students’ Union, while the meeting was presided over by Homen Rai, President of the Namrup Regional Gorkha Students’ Union.
Among those present from the AAGSU Dibrugarh District Committee were Suraj Chetry, In-charge General Secretary; Santosh Limbu, former General Secretary; Rajendra Rasaili, Vice President; Bikash Thapa, Assistant Secretary; Sabir Sonar, Assistant Secretary; Suraj Newar, Organizing Secretary; Pinku Thapa, Sports Secretary; Manoj Sharma, Office Secretary; members Aditya Lama, Rukma Newar, and Rakesh Lama; former Publicity Secretary Vicky Bishwakarma; Mikhel Purti, General Secretary of ACSA Dibrugarh District Committee; Rajesh Limbu, Assistant Secretary of AAGSU Charaideo District Committee; Arindam Dhadumia, General Secretary of AASU Namrup Regional Committee; office bearers of the Gorkha Nari Parishad; Mohan Pradhan, President of the Namrup Branch of the Assam Gorkha Sammelan; along with presidents, general secretaries, and office bearers of various regional committees under AAGSU Dibrugarh District Committee, journalists from Namrup, Naharkatia, and Charaideo districts, and several distinguished citizens of Namrup.
During the representative meeting, Chandan Pradhan was unanimously elected as the President, while Ajit Chetry was unanimously elected as the General Secretary of the Namrup Regional Gorkha Students’ Union for the upcoming term. A new committee consisting of nearly fifty office bearers and members was also constituted to lead the organization in the coming years.
