
On 23 June 2026, the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Dibrugarh District Committee, along with the Gorkha Nari Parishad, Dibrugarh District Committee, and office bearers of their various regional and branch committees, organized a road blockade programme near Duliajan 16 No. Tinali in protest against the alleged brutal assault and killing of 18-year-old Aman Sonar at the Naholia De-addiction Centre.
The protestors strongly condemned the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the prime accused, Santosh Limbu, along with all other individuals involved in the case. The organizations asserted that justice must be delivered without delay and called upon the administration to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.
The programme was attended by Ratna Thapa, President of the AAGSU Dibrugarh District Committee; Suraj Chetry, In-charge General Secretary; Dipu Ghising, Secretary; Deepak Newar, Central Organizing Secretary; Bobi Chetry, President of the Dibrugarh District Gorkha Nari Parishad; Manisha Upadhyay, Secretary; Kanchan Chamal, District Advisor; Sabita Upadhyay, Vice President; Tara Ale, Organizing Secretary; Hari Maya Thakuri, Publicity Secretary; representatives of Adivasi Jan Shakti; Til Bahadur Thapa, President of the AAGSU Duliajan Regional Committee; Sandeep Limbu, Secretary; Subhadra Sharma, President of the Duliajan Regional Committee of Gorkha Nari Parishad; Mamoni Sharma, Secretary; and office bearers from the Naharkatia, Namrup, Tingkhong, Tengakhat, Tingrai Chariali, and Dibrugarh Town committees of both AAGSU and Gorkha Nari Parishad.
The gathering expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and reiterated their commitment to securing justice for Aman Sonar while ensuring accountability for those responsible.
