AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee Extends Flood Relief Support to Affected Families in Sivasagar

Sivasagar, Assam, 7 August 2026: The All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Dima Hasao District Committee, undertook a flood relief initiative to extend humanitarian support to people affected by the recent floods in Sivasagar District, Assam.

As part of the initiative, a relief delegation from the AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee departed for Sivasagar on 6 August 2026 carrying essential relief materials for flood-affected communities. The team reached the affected areas and distributed the relief materials among families in need, providing immediate support during the difficult situation.

On the following day, the delegation proceeded to Nepali Khuti, one of the flood-affected areas, where several families were facing difficulties following damage caused to their houses. With efforts underway to rebuild and repair the damaged homes, the AAGSU team extended its support and assistance to the affected families as part of the relief initiative.

The relief distribution programme was attended by AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee President Shri Uttam Gharti, former Vice President and social worker Shri Ram Bahadur Tamang, Secretary Shri Akash Sunar, and Shri Rajen Chetri, President of the AAGSU Mahur Regional Committee. Shri Prem Tamang and his team were also present during the distribution and extended their support to the relief activities.

The initiative reflected AAGSU’s commitment to standing with communities during times of natural calamities and extending assistance beyond organizational boundaries. The collective participation of district committee members, regional committee representatives, volunteers and local supporters contributed to the successful completion of the relief and distribution programme.

The AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee expressed its sincere gratitude to all donors, well-wishers and supporters from Dima Hasao District who contributed to the relief initiative. The committee also appreciated everyone who extended their valuable cooperation and assistance in ensuring that relief reached the affected families.

Through such humanitarian initiatives, the organization continues to encourage a spirit of solidarity, community service and collective responsibility among students and young people.
